Arthrosamid® is a biocompatible injectable hydrogel composed of 97.5% water and 2.5% cross-linked polyacrylamide. It is the only non-absorbable polyacrylamide hydrogel licensed for intra-articular use in knee osteoarthritis.
It provides long-lasting cushioning, reduces friction between joint surfaces, protects cartilage from progressive wear, and stimulates the endogenous production of hyaluronic acid.
Helps improve the mechanical environment of the joint and reduce associated pain.
It aims to improve precisely these two aspects, which can translate into an improvement in walking tolerance.
Arthrosamid® offers an interesting option to improve pain and function, with a response perceived in many cases almost immediately.
It aims to improve these mechanical conditions of the joint and, with it, the feeling of stiffness.
Treatment with Arthrosamid® is performed in-clinic, in a single session, as part of a protocol that combines the hydrogel injection with pre- and post-treatment work on the joint tissue.
Before and after the infiltration, the protocol incorporates diamagnetic bomb and advanced diathermy. The goal of these technologies is to prepare the articular tissue and optimize the local environment prior to receiving the hydrogel.
Arthrosamid® Signature is our comprehensive protocol for patients suffering from knee joint pain and degeneration who may benefit from this therapy. It includes:
Clinical studies demonstrate significant reductions in pain (-15.7 to -20.8 WOMAC points), stiffness (-12.1 to -17.5), and physical function improvement (-9.4 to -18) over 6 months to 3 years. The most common adverse event is transient pain (16%), with no serious complications reported. Arthrosamid is biocompatible and non-absorbable.

Arthrosamid acts in multiple ways simultaneously. It provides mechanical damping that reduces friction between articular surfaces, protects the cartilage from progressive wear, reduces inflammation, and stimulates the endogenous production of hyaluronic acid in the joint. Biomarker studies demonstrate an increase in anti-inflammatory mediators three months post-injection.
Arthrosamid is indicated for mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis, progressive cartilage damage, chronic pain due to osteoarthritis, joint stiffness, and as an alternative when other treatments (PRP, hyaluronic acid) have not been sufficient. It is particularly valuable for patients who seek less invasive options before considering surgery.
Both are intra-articular injections, but they act differently. Hyaluronic acid is absorbable and mainly acts as a temporary lubricant. Arthrosamid is non-absorbable, provides long-lasting cushioning, reduces friction more effectively, and stimulates endogenous hyaluronic acid production. Clinical studies demonstrate that Arthrosamid produces greater improvement at 6 months compared to hyaluronic acid.
The infiltration is carried out under real-time ultrasonic visualization, allowing for maximum precision. We use local anesthesia to minimize discomfort. Most patients report only mild pressure during the procedure. Afterwards, it is normal to feel light discomfort for the first few days, which decreases progressively.
Yes. In certain cases, this combination seeks an earlier response and additional joint support during the first months.
The improvement is progressive. Many patients experience relief within 1-2 weeks, with visible improvement by 4-6 weeks. Maximum benefit is generally achieved between 3-6 months. Arthrosamid provides immediate cushioning, but the anti-inflammatory effects and stimulation of endogenous hyaluronic acid develop gradually.
Arthrosamid is not absorbable, which means that it remains in the joint providing lasting cushioning. Clinical studies report sustained results for up to 3 years in many cases. Some patients may require periodic maintenance sessions depending on the initial severity and how they care for their joint.
Arthrosamid is very safe. The most common adverse event is transient pain (16%), with no serious complications reported in clinical studies. As it is biocompatible, the risk of allergic reactions is minimal. Typical side effects are mild discomforts during the first days, which gradually diminish.
Many patients achieve optimal results with a single injection. Some cases may benefit from a second session after 6-12 months. During the initial assessment, we will evaluate your specific situation and recommend the most appropriate protocol. The goal is maximum effectiveness with minimal interventions.
